CALLIE’S CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE

Callie says this is her favorite recipe to make. Her grandmother got the recipe from a magazine, then her mom made it growing up. Now, she carries on the tradition and makes it every Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

1/2 cup Vital Farms grass fed butter

3 Tablespoons cocoa

3/4 cup hot water

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup flour

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 5 oz. can evaporated milk

1 cup pecan halves

1 deep dish pie crust shell

whipped topping of your choice

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven and a cookie sheet to 350°F.
 
 
Step 2: In a medium saucepan, melt butter. Add cocoa and stir until dissolved. Add hot water and stir again.
 
 
Step 3: With wire whip blend in sugar, flour, salt, vanilla and evaporated milk. Stir until batter is smooth.
 
 
Step 4: Mix in pecans and pour into pie shell.
 
 
Step 5: Bake on preheated cookie sheet for 50 minutes or until a knife inserted 1 inch from the edge comes out clean.
 
 
Step 6: Top with whipped topping of your choice.
