Today, Jeff is grateful for no-lace Converse sneakers.

Today, Callie is grateful for Jeff and his housekeeping skills.

Mark your calendars, Jeff’s birthday is one month from today! Last year, Jeff wanted to be alone for his big day. He’s not as stressed this year, so he can be excited again. Jeff’s been out of radio for exactly 5 months, and his bank account is nearing zero. They’ll have to dip into savings and restructure some things, which is stressful … but they feel more in control of the stress. If the anxiety of a transition is holding you back, spend some time with those thoughts, and seriously consider going through with it. The anticipation of the transition is typically scarier than actually doing it; there’s life after the leap!

Today, Callie and Jeff are continuing their lessons about the power of silence. Today: Responding to the gossip with silence. Some people will take anything you say and spin it into something negative. For example, someone can hear about how Jeff is feeling better about his birthday this year now that he has control over his stress despite their financial situation. A gossiper would manipulate Jeff’s words and tell other people that they are broke, and their podcast is failing.

A listener brings up the challenges of using the power of silence on family members. When you happen to be blood-related with someone, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have boundaries. Realize that contributing to toxic conversations is optional to participate in.

Also, tonight, Jeff is making salted caramel pretzel blondies, but not before he gives a dramatic reading of the recipe, of course. Sleep away camp is so sad for Mom, and somehow ends with her baking some next-level goodness.

Andy Grammer (Jeff and Callie’s new BFF) joins the show and talks about how being encouraging and kind makes you rebellious these days. During meet-and-greets, Andy brings everyone into a circle and asks them about their deepest pain and what it has forced them to grow into. The fantastic stories that have come out of it are out of this world. For instance, Andy met a woman shot at in the Vegas shooting and parents who put their child down for a nap, and their child never woke up. At 25, Andy lost his mom, and it gave him complete empathy for the rest of the world. Andy speaks about how showing compassion and building relationships with his touring group is just as fulfilling as playing huge venues. When Andy needs uplifting, one of his go-tos is Louis Prima, the voice of King Louie in The Jungle Book. Andy knows inspiring songs can be cheesy; however, adding context and value will make them come out authentically.. Lastly, it is complete misery that Andy’s songs have been on Kids Bop.

And if you want to know about the shirt … you’ll just have to listen!
